Quick Play guide #1898

Roll The Block

Roll The Block is a casual puzzle where you swipe to flip blocks and expand them until they fill the space each level shows. The skill that clears levels is the order of the flips — expanding into the right openings early — which is where most runs stall.

The gist

The short version

This is a flip-and-fill puzzle: a block rolls across the board and expands until it fills the space the level shows. Clearing a level comes down to the sequence of flips, not speed.

What you're after

What the goal actually is

Expand the blocks correctly to fill the space and complete the challenge. Each level is solved when the space is covered — the flips just have to get the block there in a working order.

How to steer

The controls

Swipe or drag with the mouse to flip the blocks. Each swipe tips the block in that direction, so read how the shape changes before you send it into the next opening.

Your first minute

Your first sixty seconds

Open the first level and flip the block one direction at a time to watch how it expands. The early boards are small, so a wrong flip is cheap to recover from — the order shows itself quickly.

A gentle start

An easy way in

Look at the space you need to fill before you flip, and expand into the largest opening first. Filling the big gaps early leaves the small corners simple to tuck in last.

Where it wobbles

The usual trip-ups

When the block stops fitting, the sequence went wrong somewhere earlier — a flip expanded it into the wrong side. Re-read the unfilled space, find the move before the mistake, and flip a different direction there.

When you're stuck

A smaller next step

When a board stops yielding, stop flipping at random and look at the empty area instead. The unfilled space usually points at which side still needs to expand, so aim your next flip there.

From the desk

A note from our desk

There are a lot of levels, and every one runs on the same rule: flip, expand, fill. Master that rule early and the later boards are just larger versions of the same read.

First-timer questions

Before your first play

How do I get the block to fill the space?

Flip toward the largest unfilled opening and keep expanding until the space is covered. If it stops fitting, an earlier flip went the wrong way — try a different direction at the move before the problem.

Does the game have many levels?

Yes — the game is built around a large level set, and each one asks for the same thing: expand the blocks to fill the space. New levels add harder layouts, not new rules.

What should I do when the block won't reach the last gaps?

That usually means an earlier flip expanded it the wrong way. Re-read the unfilled space, pick the move before the mistake, and flip a different direction there.
