Editor's Picks

The games the desk keeps coming back to, with a note on what makes each one click.

The desk's picks are deliberately varied. 2571 Idle Bear Island Polar Tycoon is the slow one: an island-builder where you rebuild a polar habitat after a disaster and open workspaces that keep the colony growing — suited to short, recurring visits. 1707 Drift Race 3D and 1705 Road Crash are the racing pair, but different: 1707 is an endless-road drift with a two-state control (tap to turn right, release to turn left), while 1705 is demolition racing where you crash rivals and spend rewards on new cars. 1686 Ropeman 3D is a level-based rope-swinging game about timing the release. The other three picks — 1714 Jelly Boom, 1711 Funny Agent and 1673 Paint Pop 3D — are listed by the publisher only as a puzzle and two shooting games respectively, so their guides stay deliberately conservative until playtested.

Where to start: for a hands-off start, 2571 Idle Bear Island Polar Tycoon. For a short session with a simple input, 1707 Drift Race 3D. For timing-and-precision play, 1686 Ropeman 3D.

7 selected guides

Editor's Picks collects games with a loop worth learning. Each guide names the loop in plain language and points to the moment a first session usually wobbles, so you spend your time playing instead of fumbling.
